Why Now?

Breath of Grace

A couple weeks ago, I shared two gifts to my community in relation to play: Play Portrait workshops held a couple weeks ago, and Permission to Play (packages go in the mail soon!)

The Play Portrait workshops brought such rich reflections around joys and obligations, growth, and questions still to be considered. They also brought doodles and a little laughter. That’s one of the amazing things about “play” - it is far from frivolous. Rather, it can be the gateway to inspiration, creative ideas, and deep thought.

I’ve been asked - why am I doing this now?

Permission to Play has been percolating for a while. It feels ready! I’d scaled back a bit on programs as I made a professional transition that was a significant pivot, but integrating play remained a constant for me. The ability to integrate play fluidly - in both small and large ways - has helped me make the leap into a new industry, new role, and new workstyle.

Bringing a playful mindset is part of what I’ve brought into the company - into leadership team meetings, coaching of managers, and organizational routines. Playfulness brings strategic perspective.

It turns out, play is the best thing I can do both for myself and for the company!

So I’ll turn it around for you - why might this be the perfect time for you to play with play?

  • Considering or making a significant transition of your own?
  • Starting your strategic planning for 2025?
  • Wanting to hold onto the playfulness we often feel in summer?
  • Needing a release during a high stress time?
  • Looking to grow your motivation going into the Fall?

I’ve seen that a lot of people want to bring in a dash of play, BUT it needs to fit with and support their professional lives. We want the joy and freedom of play - while still being an adult.

If any of this sounds like you, consider this the warmest of invitations to join us! Registration closes Monday.

Play has helped me find clarity, be more creative, connect with others, and release some of the stress of our times. Permission to Play is designed to bring that out for others.

July 2026 Almost every morning - if not every walk, Buddy reminds me that even when I’m really excited about something, it doesn’t hurt to pause and take things in first. For Buddy, the pause includes sniffing the air, checking if one of his doggie friends is out and about nearby, noticing who is where and what they’re doing, and ultimately deciding which way to go. For me, the pause includes taking a breath, noticing my surroundings, and being grateful for the day, the moment, the dog 😁...

March 2026 This can be a strange time of year - literally. The end of Winter. The expectations of Spring. The "spring forward" of clocks that creates time warps as states and countries shift on different days or not at all. The realization that a quarter of the year is already done. (Really, 2026?!) It's not just time that toys with our emotions. As quick examples: Current events - political, economic, and more. The growing coverage of AI with its many dominoes of impact. Even the weather:...

From The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse, Charles Mackesy

February 2026 A few days ago, I had the pleasure of sharing one of my favorite books, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse, by Charles Mackesy. I've shared it with many of you in the past. It still speaks so deeply to my heart. For those less familiar with it, this beautiful book is a story about navigating life - with the four companions sharing questions and insights, beauty and cake, and ultimately cultivating healing for each being along the journey. With the group this week, I...
