I’ve thought about leadership since early in my life.

• In high school my leadership steps were with the Colorguard, and included advocating for budget with the Principal, but also creating fun ways to bring the team together.
• In college I studied Leadership Psychology with a linked Bank Simulation economics class, but also by illustrating through stick figure drawings the progression of leadership from Gandalf to Bilbo in The Hobbit.

It turns out, in retrospect, that play has always held a place in my leadership style, though I didn’t name it that way at the time.

When Jessica Wright asked if I’d participate in the Illustrating Leadership Summit, I immediately said yes. I believe that every one of us can express and embrace leadership in small ways and big. And, I believe that leadership is too often made so “serious” it is avoided.
